NFL Wild Card Round Predictions

Welcome to the playoffs ladies and gentlemen.

Heading into the postseason, Eddie Santiago is in the lead of the U92 Pickers. Brandon VanSickel is three picks behind in second place, while Justin Moore and Ryan Decker are also within reach of first place.

Our pickers are now made up of three current WVU students and three alums.

As for the guys on the field and playing this weekend, there is obviously a lot at stake.

Saturday in Houston, two of the hottest teams in football meet as the Kansas City Chiefs battle the Texans. KC won each of its final 10 games of the season after starting 1-5.

Houston also finished the regular season strong, winning seven of its final nine contests, and the team has done much of its damage without running back Arian Foster, who will miss the playoffs.

The other game on Saturday takes place in Cincinnati between two AFC North division rivals.

The Bengals will be without their starting quarterback Andy Dalton, while Pittsburgh will be forced to play without second-string running back DeAngelo Williams, who was already filling in for first-string back Le’Veon Bell.

Sunday’s early game will be the first playoff game played outdoors in Minnesota in nearly 40 years.

Both teams are coming off somewhat-surprising victories.

Only two of our pickers thought that Minnesota would beat Green Bay, and Joel Norman was the only one to pick Seattle to beat Arizona in the season finale.

The Seahawks and Vikings kickoff around 1:05 p.m.

The final game of the Wild Card round is a matchup of two teams going in two opposite directions down the backstretch of the regular season.

Washington won five of its last six, including the final four games in succession, while Green Bay lost each of its last two contests.

Finally, on Monday the College Football season comes to a close as the Top 2 teams in the country, No. 1 Clemson and No. 2 Alabama, meet in Phoenix to decide who will be the national champion.
